Welcome to NBOCAP

Thank you for visiting the national Bowel Cancer Audit Site. We hope that the information available will be of value to patients, healthcare professionals and management. There are no restricted areas on this site (other than site administration) as we believe access to all our documents and information should be open to every one.

Our aim is to improve outcomes from bowel cancer in the UK by promoting careful and comprehensive collection of information on all patients who suffer from this disease. We are committed to promoting high quality data collection, statistical analysis and reporting, so that meaningful statements can be made about variations in disease presentation, management and outcomes in different parts of the UK.

NBOCAP is a high profile, collaborative, national clinical audit of bowel cancer run jointly by The Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI) and The National Clinical Audit Support Programme (NCASP). The audit builds on the highly successful existing audit developed by the ACPGBI through the development of a robust infrastructure and increased participation nationally.

Patient identifiable data will never be posted on this site.

The information on this site is based on collaborative work by:

  • The Public
  • The Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland
  • The Commission for Health Improvement
  • The National Cancer Analysis Team
  • The National Health Service Health and Social Care Information Centre and the National Comparative Audit Support Programme
  • The UK Association of Cancer Registries.

Please contact us if you have any queries, criticisms or suggestions. This is a new project and we will be grateful for your comments.

Mr Michael R Thompson MD FRCS
